This reminds me of resigning my Chaplain position at a hospice over a year ago. I was making the best income I had ever made. There were work conditions that influenced my preparedness to quit. Yet, if one added those up, that would not be why I resigned. Even on resignation, the hospice wanted me to remain, offering me another position other than Chaplain and a new location, as I had made it clear I would not work in the same office I had worked in, and I explained why. I experienced what I termed harassment and despite others and myself reporting it, it had not ceased and the person had not been released; this, while the agency claimed zero tolerance for such behavior. I was even notified by a manager to be patient, for the behavior would be getting better, it would just take time for the other person. This was saying I was being paid not only to work for the company but accept workplace abuse. Still, this considered, that is not why I resigned. I resigned, with a month notice, and have not one moment looked back in regret, but am thankful for the time there and the agency providing me the experience of working with patients as a Chaplain. I, likewise, have no resentment toward the person I reported abuse from. When you move on from a hurtful situation, you forgive and welcome healing; otherwise, you carry the abuse inside you. Months after leaving the agency, I had a dream in which I could see the person mentioned above, and within me was the purest of love for her possible. When you walk in Spirit, healing arises spontaneously, arising from the union of the walk itself, for the Spirit is not separate from the walk. If someone were to inquire, "Why did you resign from the agency?", what would I say? The question would imply logical reasons, and walking in the Spirit often means walking in a way wherein one has no socially approved reasons.

Reflecting on this walking in Spirit to a new location, as I prepare to move again, a Scripture arose from the Christian Scripture. Attributed to the apostle Paul, 1st Century CE, are these words, “Walk in the spirit,” or “… in the Spirit.” The Hebrew mind is reflected in the biblical Hebrew of the TaNaK, or what Christians call the Old Testament. So, “walk” is a concrete, physical, palpable way of speaking. When you walk, you walk, a step at a time. You cannot walk two steps at a time. This one step is walking. You can only walk this moment, not last, not next. You are not running, you are not skipping, you are not jumping, walking is walking. This is concrete, very clear. So, walking was used as a metaphor of to live, or living. Live in the Spirit, live from the Spirit, live in tune with the Spirit, step by step by step, now by now by now, moment to moment, in the eternity of timelessness and the impermanence in time. So, you are walking true to both ~ time, timeless. If you try to get too heavenly minded and walking in timelessness, you get ungrounded, you cannot walk on Earth this way; if you try to walk only in time, you lose touch with Eternity, you get grounded only on the ground. So, step by step, live on Earth with a body of the elements and the heart of the heavens.
